Quick update on what I’m working on this quarter! I have two classes this quarter, both of which require group projects that create an actual robot doing things in the real world. I finally get to play with real robots!
- The first project is still being defined, but the idea is to give voice commands to a robot and have it interpret that to perform specific actions. For example, we would tell the robot “Tell Bill I am going to be late for our meeting”. The robot would then interpret that to mean find Bill and deliver a message (e.g. “Anna is going to be late for the meeting”). Final video for that project is here! Note that we didn’t have access to the real Bill at the time of the video, so we used a stand-in.
- The second project is to get a robot to play cornhole and compete against other cornhole playing robots. There are a total of 18 teams in the class that will all be competing for the title of Cornhole Champion. If you want to follow along with our progress and find out more, check out our project website. And yes, part of this project may include building our own cornhole set… as an academic and testing pursuit. No other reasons.
